I arrived in Vienna on BA700 from London on time. There was a junior kiwi kickboxing team on the flight and one of the lead coaches was sitting in the window seat of my row. I between us was a model from Slovakia she mostly works in New York but travels around a lot with her work. I had arranged an airport transfer from the airport to my hotel, the drivers English wasn't that great but he was pleasant enough. This driving on the right business takes a little bit of getting use to, I almost jumped in the drivers side. I am probably not this careful about crossing the road at home.
Hotel Bellevue was nice, new bathroom, air con and comfortable bed. I spent the afternoon walking around and trying to get myself lost. Didn't really look at anything in particular just lots of walking. On my way back to my hotel for the night around 7pm I came within 10 metres of the German Chancellor (Angelina Mertle?? Someone correct me) she was on here way into the State Opera House. The police had her surrounded keeping the crowds in check. (what's that travel advice about avoiding crowds while overseas??) For dinner I just grabbed a Doner Kebab and a soft drink from a street stall they are everywhere (selling hot dogs, kebabs, burgers, chips, noodles, etc). Best part dinner only cost me €4.20. I stayed up until about 9pm local time then crashed.
Side note: the long haul flight Melbourne-Singapore-London was surprisingly good on the A380. The drug I induced sleep certainly helped.
